This course introduces students to the modern principles and practices of infection control and safety for clinics, ambulatory settings, and laboratories. Students will learn the industry standards pertaining to infection control and safety, infectious diseases and healthcare-associated infections, blood-borne pathogens, and prevention and post-exposure prophylaxis.
Also included in this course is training on the Personal Health Information Act, including reules and regulations that govern Health Care professionals.

This Medical Terminology course provides an introduction to the principle of medical terminology and the structure of medical Language. Students will learn to analyze medical terms by their component parts, state the meaning of each part and determine the meaning of each medical term. Students will also learn, through descriptions and exercises, to identify the major anatomical features of each body system, common pathologies which can adversely affect these systems, and different types of specialties where they can apply their knowledge.
At the end of this module, the student will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
This module will give learners a working knowledge of the medical reports most commonly used in hospital and ambulatory care settings. Students will learn to transcribe a variety of reports from inpatient case studies, taken from actual medical reports. Organized by the body system, reports transcribed include history and physical examination, operative, pathology, radiology, and discharge summary.
At the end of this module, the student will be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
Students will be introduced to Accuro software, which has the capability to store a complete range of electronic medical records and has various practice management features. This module will enable students to input all the health information’s to the computer software. Students will learn to register patients, schedule appointments, prepare billing, manage documents and create a cumulative patient profile, etc. Students will also learn their role in the patient flow, and how to provide better patient care and streamline the workflow of the clinic office.
